Multi-Line Text Gadget Editor
Starting with Mervis IDE version 2.7.20, the HMI Text gadget supports multi-line text formatting natively through a dedicated editing dialog. This allows for cleaner display of complex instructions, warnings, or detailed status messages on operator panels.
Accessing the Multi-Line Editor
To use the multi-line text feature:
- Open your HMI Schema and select a Text gadget on the canvas.
- Navigate to the Property Grid on the right side of the screen.
- Locate the Text property under the HMI category.
- Click inside the text value cell to reveal a button with an ellipsis (##…##) on the far right edge.
Using the Editor
Clicking the ##…## button will launch the separate Edit Text dialog box.
Inside this dialog, you can type freely and press ##Enter## to create line breaks naturally. This is highly useful for creating structured alarm messages or step-by-step operator instructions.
For example, you can format a main fault message with a troubleshooting step directly below it:
Wago KBUS - Control PLC Fault
Check terminal module
Viewing the Result
Once you click OK, the text will instantly update on your HMI canvas. You may need to drag the resize handles of your text gadget to ensure the height accommodates all of your new lines.
Note: When a multi-line string is applied, the Property Grid will only display the first line of the text (e.g., Wago KBUS - Contr…) to keep the interface clean.
