Project Translation
Mervis SCADA can display project texts, such as datapoint names, groups and schema texts, in other languages. The translations are stored in dictionary files that you upload to the project in the Portal, one file per language.
Note: This page covers translating the project content. To change the language of the Mervis SCADA user interface itself, see Languages.
Prerequisites
- Access to the project in portal.mervis.info.
- The Manage SCADA permission for the project, which is required to upload project files. See Permissions.
Step 1: Enable Localization
- Log in to the Portal and open Projects.
- Click the edit icon in the Actions column of the project.
- In the Edit project dialog, switch on Localization enabled.
- Click Confirm.
Step 2: Create Dictionary Files
Create one dictionary file for each language you want to translate into.
File Name
The file name has the following format:
<project guid>.<language code>.dict
| Part | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Project GUID | Shown in the Guid column of the project list and in the project detail panel. | 461cef47-30f6-4a9a-ae03-1ce8c62fdc82 |
| Language code | Code of the language the file translates into. | cs |
| Extension | Always .dict | .dict |
File Content
The dictionary is a JSON object. Each entry consists of:
- Left side: the original text as it appears in the project.
- Right side: the translation.
Example of 461cef47-30f6-4a9a-ae03-1ce8c62fdc82.cs.dict (English project texts translated to Czech):
{
"Group": "Skupina",
"analog setpoint with timestamp": "analogový setpoint s časovou známkou",
"ALARM": "ALARM 1",
"INIT": "Nastavovací tlačítko"
}
What Can Be Translated
| Text | Source |
|---|---|
| Datapoint names | Data file |
| Groups | Data file |
| Texts in text blocks | Schemas |
| Datapoint states | Action property |
| Buttons | Schemas |
| Multi-line texts | Schemas |
Note: Translation of datapoint states, buttons and multi-line texts requires a recent version of Mervis SCADA.
Multi-line Texts
Write each line break as \n. The left side must contain the line breaks exactly as in the original text. The right side can break the translation wherever you need:
{
"Ochrana\nolejového čerpadla": "Oil pump\nprotection",
"Čidlo Pt100\nv pečné komoře": "Pt100 sensor\nin baking chamber"
}
Warning: If the left side does not match the original text, including line breaks, the text is not translated.
Step 3: Upload the Dictionaries
- In Projects, select the project and click Project Files Management in the action panel.
- Click Add project files and select your
.dictfiles. - Click Upload project files.
- Click Apply changes.
- Check that the files are listed in the
l10nfolder with the type TranslationDictionary.
Note: Dictionary files are not data files, so applying them does not stop the project.
To change a translation, edit the dictionary file and upload it again with the same name.
