Merbon Product Family & Comparison

End of Sales Notice: As of 2025, sales of Merbon SCADA have been discontinued. Existing projects are encouraged to migrate to Mervis SCADA to ensure long-term support and regulatory compliance.

Merbon is a product family from the Domat company, a long-standing partner of ours. Historically, Merbon SCADA software was built using licensed technology from the Mervis platform.

While Domat remains a premier provider of hardware and control solutions, the development paths for the SCADA software have diverged. Merbon SCADA is based on an earlier generation of the Mervis core, whereas Mervis SCADA has continued to evolve with new enterprise features and security standards.

For customers looking for the most robust software solution, returning to the source platform—Mervis—offers distinct advantages. Because Mervis SCADA is under active, primary development, it includes critical modernizations that are not present in the Merbon branch:

  • Mervis Portal: A centralized management hub offering Enterprise-grade security (MFA), user administration, and project file history.
  • Advanced Alarm Logic: Updated alarm handling that supports “memory” states and more sophisticated acknowledgement workflows.
  • Flexible Licensing: Choose between traditional on-premise licenses, or a cloud-based model where you pay based on total datapoint count and don't need to manage infrastructure yourself.

An important note for planning your migration: Domat IDE cannot export projects directly to Mervis SCADA. How you build your Mervis SCADA project going forward depends on your hardware plans.

  • Staying on Domat hardware? You will need to build your SCADA project in Mervis using a supported engineering tool rather than exporting directly from Domat IDE. If you'd prefer to keep working in a tool similar to what you're used to, RcWare Vision remains available and fully supported for this.
  • Open to switching hardware? Mervis IDE includes a dedicated “Export to Mervis SCADA tool for direct transfer of schemas and data points, currently available with supported WAGO hardware. This is the most streamlined path if a hardware change is on the table.

Moving from Merbon to Mervis is not a platform switch—it is a natural upgrade, since the underlying technology is shared. Your existing logic and data structures are largely compatible, and upgrading to Mervis SCADA unlocks the latest features and puts your project on our actively maintained, primary development branch.

The right engineering tool for building your Mervis SCADA project depends on your hardware plans—see Migrating Your SCADA Engineering above.
