Cloud Connectivity

When connecting any technology to the internet, the primary focus must be on the overall security of the chosen solution.

• Communication via public IP addresses and forwarded ports:
  • If there is no other option, at a minimum, restrict which IP addresses can connect to the specific port.
  • Additionally, block any communication after repeated unsuccessful connection attempts.

• Communication via Mervis Proxy and similar technologies:
  • This is the preferred method as it creates a secure, encrypted tunnel from the controller to the cloud without requiring a public IP.
• VPN (Virtual Private Network):
  • A standard secure method for creating a private network over the public internet.
